Why Online of course! You should
define your Publishing Business with an online presence. This can
include a web site, auction ad, promotions, give-away’s, freebies,
contests, advertising, signatures, and much more! But don’t let your
publishing business be limited to online adventures, you should also
consider flyers, business cards, advertisements, and the regular
offline promotion and business sense as well!
The best place to have your
publishing business is on your own domain and an excellent source of
hosting will be needed to accompany that. These days on the web, there
are many affordable sites to purchase domain names and hosting
packages. Be sure to compare prices and the actual deal, since some
places will offer you more than others will. It is essential that you
have enough traffic/bandwidth, storage, email, autoresponders, and
uptime. If you don’t see it listed, ask them, but do not assume!
And don’t limit your business to one
website or domain name. You can take a second domain name and point it
to your website or purchase additional domain names and hosting for
additional sites. If you can come up with a domain name.com that
hasn’t been taken, then snatch it up quickly. Shortened names work the
best for memory sake with clients and potential customers. Try to
keep it under two key words and perhaps up to about 15 letters tops!
Having a domain name of your own, and excellent hosting services will
afford you a look of professionalism that shows you mean business!
Having a website is not a
requirement, nor should it be your only step to selling on the web.
You should consider having a yahoo store or even an eBay store to sell
your eProducts. Why? Because simply they add thousands to millions of
more possible viewers and potential customers than your website alone
could do. This will also allow you to create additional exposure in
search engines and the places like eBay and Yahoo do most of that type
of work for you by including that in the price tag of the store. You
do not have to have a store in eBay and have to list it in any
auctions, you can merely have the store and your inventory to produce
sales.
Exposure is one of the greatest keys
to your Publishing business! Simply put, the more you get your name,
eBook titles, images, and business on the web, the BETTER! Anywhere
you can include a little about yourself, include your contact and
products. As you generate sales, keep in touch with existing customers
and follow up with letters. Include your signature in any forum,
email, or response. Your business should be in full view of anyone at
any time and any place. Make it so Sherlock!
Your publishing business can be with
art, affiliates, eBooks, eProducts, photography, writing, eCourses,
books, or just about anything that provides content and information.
As a publisher, it is essential that you have a place to call home or
a website that explains all about your company as well as sells your
products. Having additional sites, selling in auctions, having a
storefront, or even listing your business on a FREE site will be only
the starting place of where your publishing business should be. You
will need to continually drive customers to your website(s) and
provide additional eProducts that your clients and potential customers
will seek to buy. You will need to study marketing, advertising, and
promotion at every level to make sure you keep up with your
competition. It is essential that in every publishing business that
one seeks to create and expand. Creation comes in many forms as well
as expansion! So be open and be exploring at all times!
