One of the most frequently asked
questions associated with eBooks is this:
How do I
Write an eBook?
And my response to this question is
that it is not as easy as everyone is making it out to be for those
who are not internet savvy or are new to writing. So in order to write
an eBook, what do you need to become savvy in order to write an eBook?
Basically an understanding of how to
put together a Book and then how to put that Book into an eBook format
that you can sell. Some html knowledge or a wysiwyg html program can
help you create html pages, sales page, or other content needed to
make web pages to sell you item is needed. But, let’s break this down
so that you can understand the concept easier.
You will need a manuscript or
document worthy of a sale. You will need to fine tweak this manuscript
and edit/proof-read it until you have a worthy manuscript. Once this
is accomplished, you will have additional steps to confront and
complete in order to get a salable item. Your manuscript will need a
proper beginning, middle, and ending as all books do. Make sure your
manuscript has these features.
Some other additional features
needed in any eBook are the cover page, the rules/instructions page,
contact information, copyright, ISBN number (not required but helps to
protect your eBook), table of contents, references page, link page, or
any other page that you feel is necessary to your eBook. If you plan
to sell additional eProducts or eBooks, then mention forthcoming eBook
titles, coupons, special discounts, or even your website for further
reading and information. Don’t forget those back-end products too!
Next you will need a compiler to
type this work of words into and make an electronic file. You can use
Word Processor program or in html program (such as MS-Frontpage or
even WordPad) to assist you in this process. Make sure all of your
grammar and spelling is corrected. Punctuation and abbreviations
should be corrects as well. You will need to save this work of words
and this becomes your first file or efile. This is now considered an
eBook of some proportions, but not a completed eBook!
You will actually need to compile
this in another actual eBook compiler or you could use the Word file
or HTML file as your eBook for those who do not wish to purchase
additional expensive compilers or other products. If you choose to
sell your eBook this way, you will then need an eBook Cover to
complete the image of the Book cover. Getting a compiler can be
painless depending on where you go. You can find some compilers at
http://www.dataworkz.net in our eBook section, on the web, or even
at auction houses ranging in price from a few dollars to a couple of
hundred dollars. Be sure of what you purchase because in some cases,
not all the features are with each and every compiler. The best
suggested compilers we have used here at DataWorkZ are Adobe Acrobat
Distiller and eBook Edit Pro EXE compiler. Both are used for different
reasons and have different features that we like. We also have some
simple compilers that work fine as well such as eBook Creator Lite
written by Jimmy Brown. There are also FREE compilers available on the
web as well, be sure to check out our RESOURCES section for FREE eBook
compilers or links to them.
Having such a cover will allow you
to have an image associated with the eProduct and a visual reference
for customers to relate with. An image can help you sell your eBook
perhaps up to 400% as some sites suggest, but in the end it will help
an eBook sell versus one that doesn’t have an image. Making a graphic
eBook cover image can be simple if you use the correct cover. One of
the best places we have found for producing eBook cover images for
FREE or for purchase is
http://www.eBookCovers.us. Download a FREE eBook and try them out.
Once you have your eBook written,
compiled, and a cover image, you will need to come up with a game plan
in order to sell this eBook to customers! This is where Promotion,
Public Relations, Customer Service, Advertising, and Creative Sales
come into play. Finding this information can be daunting on the web,
since everyone seems to have a techniques or advice on the subjects.
Finding what works for you is what you will have to detail this down
to and discover the best methods for your use. We have many eBooks
that might help you sell your eBook or eProduct in our eBook store, so
be sure to stop on by. We do have many great eBook choices in our $1
USD eBook List that are affordable for even the deepest of pockets.
Using html or a WYSIWYG software
will help you create more pleasingly visual sales pages and content in
order to sell your eBook or eProduct. Consider checking into the
WYSIWYG or What You See is What You Get software such as FrontPage and
others to help make this html process a little easier. For those who
do not know or do not want to learn html, the WYSIWYG web page
editor’s are the first programs of choice. You can easily cut and
paste or drop and click your way to creating a web page, sales page,
sales letter, auction web page, or just about anything html related!
How do you write an eBook? In the
end, it is ultimately up to you. You define what is your eBook, your
contents, your show pages, and your eCover graphic. There are many
eBooks on the web today, there will be many more tomorrow. Can you
write a best seller? Sure you can, just get out there and do it!
Good luck on your quest and may all
your eBook dreams become a reality!
